‘A magnificent day’ dedicated to the writer Colette at the Villa Roz Ven in Saint-Coulomb – Ouest France

To quote Colette in a letter to one of her friends, on Saturday 20 July 2024, during Book Day, ‘the weather was fine, it was Roz Ven’. It was in this former manor house in Saint-Coulomb that the writer stayed between 1910 and 1924.

Many visitors enjoyed Book Day in Saint-Coulomb. The event, organised by the library at the Villa Roz Ven, was dedicated to the writer Colette.

Visitors strolled through the gardens of the property, which were opened for the occasion by the owners, Aurélie and Pierre-Emmanuel Poujardieu. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., authors and speakers took turns under the large marquee overlooking the sea. The two round tables dedicated to the writer and led by Martine Charreyre, vice-president of the Friends of Colette, also attracted a large audience. ‘It was a wonderful day, just as we had dreamed it would be,’ said the owner of the property.

The success of the event was also due to the fifty or so volunteers who worked hard to make it a memorable day for the community.
